DJ TRADEMARK – Tyler McMurray (AKA DJ Trademark) started playing music during his sophomore year at Ripon College back in 2009, filling house parties and small bars in rural Wisconsin. By early 2010 he had already released four full-length mix tapes, and in the summer of 2011 both the “New Pop EP” and “The Victory Lap LP” hit the internet. The singles “Summer Weekend” and “Push To Start” gained strong support from major college music blogs, and by February of 2012 Trademark put out two more projects, “The Afterparty EP” and “Clean Cuts EP”.Based out of the Chicagoland area, he’s rocked clubs and performed at concerts and colleges around the country. Fusing pop samples with electro records and hip-hop with house tracks, the mashups and bootlegs Trademark creates drive parties worldwide, and moving forward he is sure to be one of the more creative DJ’s both on stage and in the booth.

The first music festival in the district of its kind, trillectro is our way of bridging the gap between hip-hop and electronic music. trillectro will unite tastemakers and music enthusiasts from up and down the east coast (and beyond!) to…”with local and national artists (that we’ll reveal on friday at 10am…it’s friday the 13th, aka freaky friday, so it’s perfect) for an unforgettable experience at DC’s brand new half street fairgrounds. modeled after brooklyn’s dekalb market, this unique and spacious venue reuses salvaged shipping containers to surround a main stage, bar areas, tents and gaming space for a dynamic retail and entertainment experience. trillectro will be the first music experience of this size and nature to take place at the half street fairgrounds.

WTF is trillectro?

Trillectro is the first event of its kind within the city limits of the district of columbia, and possibly the entire country. on august 11th, 2012, thousands from DC, maryland, virginia and beyond will come together in the name of hip-hop and electronic music at the half street fairgrounds, an untapped venue right outside the Nationals Park and across the street from the Navy Yard metro stop. 20+ performances from the most promising emerging artists in the nation, all of whom, if you asked them, couldn’t categorize their sound very simply or put themselves into a box. besides, lanes are for lames, and nobody likes being pigeonholed. as featured band phony ppl said,

“we, just do our thing / i rap when i want, and when i want / i will siiiiing…”

That’s pretty much the mindstate of every act on this bill. DJs, producers, rappers, singers, and everything in between. you’ll see a whole lot of all of that better believe you’ll see a whole bunch of all of that trillectro.

So, what should you expect? music. a group of cool kids, nerds, jocks, weirdos, freaks, geeks, artisans, hipsters, hippies, yuppies, youngins, YG’s, OG’s, maybe even a couple triple OG’s that are so colorful, they make a united colors of benetton ad look bland. toss in some girls and guys who are dressed in heels and brand new kicks and didn’t get the memo that this is a music festival, not a fashion show. old friends. new friends. locals. transplants. more music. lights. speaker stacks. moon bounces. tasty ass food trucks. tank tops and tankinis. short shorts. worn-in sneakers. flats. snapbacks. pins. stickers. glowsticks. lighters in the air (or smartphones – it’s 2012). cornhole. life-sized board games. enough space for hip-hop and EDM heads alike to spin around, dance, and rock out as you please. enough tweets, instagrams, videos, facebook posts hashtagged #trillectro to make this historic event live on for a while – a social media explosion if you will. even more music. vendors trappin’ out of their booths. attendees engaging with the freshest brands and newest innovations. DJs and producers bumping a mix of their favorite jams and their own musical creations. live bands feeding off the crowd’s vibes to give the best show of their live. hands waving in the air. peace. love. happiness. the past. the present. the future. all in all, the energy of an awesome music festival in obama’s backyard.

VOODOO FARM is the music project of NYC-based DJ/producer/filmmaker Liam Dirlam. By infusing sounds of Electro House/Dubstep/Glitch-Hop/Moomba, and releasing self-made music videos for each track, VOODOO FARM sets himself apart both musically and visually.

VOODOO FARM’s first full-length album “The Weird Circle LP” is slated to drop in early March 2012. Dirlam will be looking to separate himself once more by including several live musicians on the album, as well as 3D Album Artwork created by award winning 3D animator/director Maurice Caicedo.
